We are NatureKids Kelowna!*Do you want your kids to learn more about nature? Do you wish they got outside more? Do they love adventures?
Then NatureKids might be for you! We are a small group, lead by local members of the science community, that meets once a month to learn and explore. *Formerly Young Naturalists' Club |
The NatureKids Club has been filling their weekends with adventure and fun as we explore the Kelowna area in our quest to learn about the world around us. Once a month we gather and learn, whether it is physics or biology, chemistry or geology. NatureKids is about pairing education with conservation, and building a love for the environment that will stick with children as they grow from curious minds into responsible adults and conscious citizens.
We have been all over the valley this year, taking advantage of the diverse habitats and opportunities the Okanagan has to offer. Last summer we hiked through the burn zone in Myra-Bellevue to learn about forest fires, picked saskatoons, and blew stuff up in the lab. We delved into the world of insects on our annual fall camping trip, Camp Arbuckle Bugs Out! Our latest activities were learning about native plants at Angel Springs Interpretive Trail and peering into the microscopic world of viruses, bacteria, and parasites!
If you would be interested in joining us for an afternoon and sharing knowledge in your area of expertise, we would love to have you! These kids are great listeners and ask the best questions, and who knows: they could change the world some day.
